The Brambles Farm Cottage Kilalrney is a 200 year old authentic traditional style farmhouse offering self catering accommodation with all modern conveniences. It is situated near the village of Farranfore, Killarney in centre of County Kerry (Southern Ireland), ideal as a base to see the wonderful scenery and attractions that the famous county has to offer.
Originally the 'Barry' family home for over six generations, who still live and work the farm, this little cottage is steeped in history, has been through the famine to the war of independence and is one of the few genuine examples of its type left in the country.
The cottage was originally thatched and was much smaller, it was doubled in size around 1920, a tin roof and electricity added later and has now as well as a number of fireplaces has an oil central heating system. This authentic property consists of four bedrooms, kitchen, living room and is set on a working farm. Guests can collect fresh eggs for breakfast and even feed and play with the small animals.
The cottage is a short drive from Farranfore, which is an excellent base for touring County Kerry and is also the location of the regional airport. Killarney town, one of Ireland's most famous holiday destinations, is only 14km away. Here, you can take in the magnificent scenery of the McGillycuddy Reeks, visit Killarney National Park and the town's magical lakes. You can play a round of golf at one of Killarney's famous championship golf courses or you can choose one of the excellent fishing spots to test your angling skills.
County Kerry really has it all and you can experience it from the peaceful idyllic setting of The Brambles Farm Cottage, a truly unique holiday location.
